The formal review into whether Whitburn should have its own parish council has now begun. South Tyneside Council is going to consult Whitburn residents over the coming months. However, you do not have to wait for the consultation to open to make your views known. Residents can send their views directly to South Tyneside Council now.
The Forum supports an unwarded parish One of the issues that will be considered is whether Whitburn Parish should be divided into wards. The Whitburn Neighbourhood Forum believes that an unwarded parish would be the best structure for Whitburn, with councillors representing the parish as a whole rather than dividing it into separate wards. The Forum has prepared a template letter for residents who support a Whitburn Parish Council without wards. The meeting will explain what happens next in the Community Governance Review and gives residents an opportunity to discuss the proposal, the consultation process and how they can make their views count. There will be no vote at the meeting. It is an opportunity to get informed, ask questions and discuss the next steps.
