13 Days to Go: Why 271 Responses Isn't Enough for Whitburn
South Tyneside Council has confirmed that we are at the halfway mark for the first phase of the Whitburn Community Governance Review. Right now, only 271 residents have responded. With roughly 3000 registered voters in our village, that means 91% of Whitburn has not yet been heard. Why this matters to you: This review looks at how Whitburn is governed locally, which can directly affect community funding, local planning decisions, and our voice within the borough. When response numbers are low, decisions are made by a tiny minority. We need a surge of responses to show that Whitburn cares about its independent identity. What you need to do before Monday, 28th September 2026:
Help us spread the word: Please talk to your neighbours, especially those who may not be online. The council will use these responses to create draft recommendations, which will lead to a second vote. Let's get the foundation right now.
